About Web Design II

Course Overview

This course introduces students to WordPress as a professional platform for web design and development, with a focus on Full Site Editing (FSE) and the Site Editor. Students will explore how WordPress works as a Content Management System — separating content, design, and core functionality — and how to use that structure to build polished, maintainable websites.

The course follows a design-first approach. Students will design a complete portfolio website in Figma — including a design system, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups — before building in WordPress. This mirrors professional practice and ensures every decision made in the browser is intentional.

AI tools may be introduced as professional aids throughout the course for layout planning, content writing, and debugging. When used the emphasis is always on creative ownership: students direct the work and AI assists.

By the end of the course, students will complete an individual project: the design and development of a self-promotional portfolio website, live on the web and ready to share with employers or clients.
